I’m not going to tell you the details of my life. This is more about why I made this site.
First: What I’m not
I do not work for Glenn Beck. I actually have never met Glenn personally, nor had I spoken with him until March 5, 2009 - and some of you heard the totallity of that on the radio. This site is not in any way sponsored by anyone or anything other than me, a private person. I do want to personally thank those who helped with this site by adding tips (thanks Jim in NY) or by formatting the message board at Meetup.com (Loveskilts in KY). No business supports this site. Someone from Glenn's staff did ask if they could link to my site, and I was humbled by that gesture. Even so, absolutely nothing on this site is from Glenn, except the 9-12 principles and values.
So, why am I doing this?
I get it. Because Glenn keeps clanging the warning bell, I am starting to see where we’re heading. The government doesn’t have the answers, so the only hope will come from “We, the People”. We must get off of our couches and find each other. (For a more personal look at why I'm doing this, read 9-12)
I went to the Meetup site like everyone else and couldn’t find my way around. I started complaining that “Someone should do something” about organization. The minute it left my lips (actually fingertips and brain) I realized that I was part of America’s problem: people expecting others to “do something” while we stand around thinking we’re helpless. It dawned on me that I was that someone. I have just (barely) enough of a skill-base to organize the data that started coming in. I made the free site and then started telling people about it on Meetup. When the free site was no longer powerful enough, I bought this one for the month. The rest is all posted.
What do I get out of this?
I receive no money, recompense, notoriety, coolness points, or jellybeans from this. Actually, I pay for the site from my income, and use my lack of a social life to answer e-mails. What I do get is the hope that somehow, on some small scale, I made a difference. I live in an apartment with neither cable nor satellite, so I can’t host from my home, but what I can do, I do.
